Farmhouse Spindle Candle Holders

March 30, 2018

I have hoarded quite a few spindles in various shapes and sizes. Some came from table legs, some from a headboard and some from table lamps.

Please pardon my photos on this project. I’ve been dealing with spring rainstorms all week.

After cleaning and sanding all my spindles, I gave them a couple coats of flat white paint. Some of the spindles had tops that needed a little something-something to set the candles on so I also painted clay flower pot saucers. After roughing up all the edges of the spindles and saucers with sandpaper, I glued the saucers to the spindles using E-6000.

With the pair of table lamp spindles I experimented with a brown wash stain over the white. I think they came out pretty good.

After a little bit of sprucing with burlap bows and silk flowers, I added candles and they were ready for display.

These will be at my craft show in a couple of weeks, but until then at least one set may grace my dining table this Easter. 😉 😉

  1. Really like these, especially the brown ones. Good luck at the craft show.

  2. I LOVE the farmhouse style, and these spindle candle holders are so pretty! I never thought of using clay saucers to hold candles, that a great idea! I have a basket full of spindles, most are skinny ones though. I’m going to have to dig through them and see if there’s any that will work for candle holders. These would make a great gift for my daughter! They’ve been redecorating with the farmhouse style. She would love them! Pinning!
