Patriotic Rag Strip Garland
Spring has sprung in my neck of the woods and I’m already itching for summer. Well, kinda… I’m not a big fan of the sweltering heat, but I do love the barbecues, fairs and festivals.
Lately, I’ve been making a variety of garlands and, after sorting through my stash of red, white and blue, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make rag strip garlands for all those summer patriotic holidays.
This one is a little different than previous strip garlands I have made. I cut the strips shorter and used a buttonhole type knot to attach them.
The length of the drape is still long, but it also has an end sticking up. I kinda like the look.
I liked it after the strips were all attached, but it still looked like it needed a little more something-something.
Old Pepsi bottle caps were the perfect addition. I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch holes in the caps, then tied the caps to the garland using twine. Finding a use for something I have held onto for years is so satisfying.
There. Now I’m ready for Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.
Enjoy!
