Quilt Scrap Flowers

May 1, 2014

Happy May Day!!!!

I actually made these flowers about a month ago in anticipation of warmer weather, green lawns and spring.

Don’t throw out those small cutter quilt scraps left over from previous projects. There is always something that can be made from these unique pieces.

A pattern sketched freehand…

…and an afternoon at the sewing machine was all it took to create a beautiful bouquet of quilt scrap flowers.

Keeping with the rustic country charm of their construction, I used rusty barbed wire for the stems.

  1. Love these, brilliant idea! I am going to have fun making a few of these for myself 🙂 Hope to see you at our Snickerdoodle Sunday tomorrow!

  2. I always despise throwing out scraps – this is an adorable idea to save every little bit of a quilt.

  3. Very cute! I have cutter quilt fabric that I could use for these…..

  4. I found you today from Sew Many Ways, and I am so glad I did. I love surfing through your blog, and have had a blast for the entire afternoon. Thank you! One question could you put up a template for your scrap flowers? I cannot draw and straight line crooked for nothing. : ) And possibly a tutorial on how you did them? They are beautiful and I am smitten over them. Thanks again for sharing!

  5. these look great, I don’t normally do sewing but these might be a great way to recycle some baby clothes, would that work?

  6. Such a sweet idea! I love anything quilted!
