Restyled Picnic Basket
Another restyled quickie.
I found this picnic basket at a yard sale a couple of weeks ago. I’m a sucker for a basket with a lid. I usually repurpose them into stackable storage.
Check out this cute little tray inside.
Unfortunately it had problems on one of the handles.
I decided the problems were not big enough issues to turn down this gem. It was only a dollar!
I cleaned up the basket and dry-brushed all the surfaces with white acrylic paint.
Even the tray got some attention. I could have stopped there, but…
…I found a cute apple print fabric that I ripped into strips and wrapped around the problems on the handle. I love it! Perfect fix!
The same fabric was used to add a bow on one of the handles.
Enjoy!

Love what you did for that basket, it was meant for you. And only a $1, oh my. You sure would have been crazy to pass it up. I love it, so darned cute. Great save on handle.
I have 3 or 4 of the old style with the top coming up on both ends I got in KY, now we live in western CO. One I spray painted and use to store craft tools, etc. when I work out in kitchen on our island. Had hubs put a piece of wood on bottom and casters so I can just pull it by the handle back to craft room. I love it. Found couple of other smaller baskets at Goodwill and local thrift store that I store stuff in also. I have way too much craft stuff. Think it’s time I painted those two, would be fun project. Your basket inspired me to want to paint them. Have fun whatever you do, happy summer.
This would make a very sweet sewing or craft basket. Love it.
Love your dry brushing! Pinned to my beachy board:) When I first saw your orange name across the basket , i thought it was a stripe! Which was appealing too! I posted anchor dress to Sew Can Do. Stop by:)
Great transformation. I can see this filled with goodies for a gift!
I love what a little dry-brushed paint can do! It’s gorgeous. Thanks for linking up to Give Me the Goods!

It looks lovely after the fix! I love its new color! 🙂
Such a pretty picnic basket now that you’ve fixed it up! I’m visiting from Kammy’s Korner link party.
I cannot get over how amazing that basket looks now. Took a little work but look how elegant it is now. This is such a wonderful and inspiring post. I would love it if you would share this post at our WIW linky party. Hope you can join us today!

I love this. I have dry brushed several baskets white, but haven’t blogged about them yet. I guess I want to add something to them yet. I like the fabric you added. I’d love it if you would share this at “What We Accomplished Wednesday,” at Green Willow Pond. It goes live on Tuesday nights at about 6 PM EST. Have a great week!
Hugs,
