New Cellphone Case
I’m a little embarrassed to show you my old cell phone case. Gasp!! Kinda like showing you my underwear with a hole in them. I’ve used this case for years and it’s gone through several phones. Many times I have thought about getting a new one, but I haven’t found one I liked like this one. It hooked onto a belt and the phone slipped in and out easily. That’s the good.
The bad is that the strap that goes over the belt is hanging on by a thread. Seriously, if I hadn’t decided to do something about it I am sure I would have lost my phone. The case was also too big for my current phone. Lastly, the mystery vinyl it was made of was cracked and peeling. Ugh!
Keeping in mind the things I liked about my old case, I decided to trace and alter a pattern from the shape of case.
I had an old leather skirt that was on its way to the Goodwill, but I grabbed it before it made it out the door. It was perfect for a new cell phone case.
I traced the pattern onto the skirt using tailor’s chalk and cut it out.
It was either my sewing machine, the needle or the leather, but I just could not get a zigzag stitch on the edge. The stitches kept skipping even after I changed the needle. After re-cutting new shapes from the skirt a couple of times because I kept ruining them (grrr!!), I decided to just sew a straight stitch on the edge.
Once I gave up on the stupid zigzag stitch, the case went together very quickly.
I added a snap and it was done. Yay! I love it!
Enjoy!
