Scrap Wood Pumpkins
Bedposts and Spindle Prim Pumpkins
Okay, here’s the deal. For months (read years) I have been intending to clean the open, pole section of the barn where I store my crafts. The enclosed part is fairly organized, but the pole section is not. It really is kinda embarrassing since this open area can be seen by every visitor to our home. I even had a friend assume parts of the barn were falling down because of the jumble of wood piles and junk. Don’t judge me. These piles have inspired many cool projects. Ahem! Take my word for it.
Yes, sometimes junk (even to a junk lover) is just that…junk.
I march out to the barn almost daily with a resolve to gitter done…and then I falter. Snake skins, rat, mouse and coon poop are proof that I am not alone. I get a little nervous. I start pulling things off the top one at a time like a game of pick-up-sticks.
And then I get distracted by the treasures I am pulling out.
I see a pumpkin. Really! Can’t you see it?
A few cuts.
A little reshaping.
Of course I had to add paint to really say “pumpkin”.
Last minute personality additions and it’s ready for fall decorating.
Then I found these bedposts and spindles.
Since I had pumpkins on the brain, I just went for it.
Check out the stems. They are rusty square shaped nails salvaged from a previous project. I saved them even though they were bent because I just knew they would find a greater purpose.
I think these prim little pumpkins are cute…my guys aren’t too sure about them though…
What do you think? This is the time of year when I start coming up with new things for fall craft shows. Should I make more for craft shows or not? I am uncovering tons more spindles and bedposts.
Now don’t start thinking I haven’t accomplished any clean up in the barn. I actually have. Problem is, you can’t tell with a picture at the moment. Sigh…I’ll keep going…and continue to get distracted…until I gitter done…
Enjoy!

I say yes you should make more. I love these.
Very cool! No judgement here on the “project pile”… I have one I’m growing myself which is located under the carport. Maybe one day, I will park my car there again but for now, it is just producing way too many projects!

So cool! I especially like the pumpkin!
Thanks so much ladies! I never thought I would say this, but I am actually enjoying uncovering the treasures in this clean up project.
It looks like great junk before and after. Those bed springs look like fun too! I saw a trellis from a bedspring on Pinterest!
What adorable projects. The prim pumpkins have charmed me. Thanks for sharing at Inspire Us Thursday at Organized 31.
LOVE LOVE LOVE your crafts! They are rustic, yet cute. LOVE your style, keep up the good work!! )our wood pile keeps on growing..)
