Canning Jar Canister
The idea for this canister was inspired by the candy jars in old fashioned general stores. I actually call this canister a “cracker” canister. My family (teenagers) seem to have a problem with closing opened boxes of crackers when they are done with them. They get stale so quickly.
Old weathered fence board provided the rustic heart lid.
I used household cement to attach the ring.
Tip: If you’re obsessed with the tip of the heart lining up with the front of the canister, screw the ring on the jar and place a mark on the front of it. Then when you glue the heart to the lid, line up the point with the mark. I’m usually not too worried about such things, but in this case it just looked better.
I think the knob provides the cuteness factor with this project. It’s just an old cupboard door pull. I painted it and sanded it a bit to marry it with the rustic charm of the canister.
That’s it! Fill it up with crackers and dare those teenagers not to put the lid back on.
Enjoy!
